ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

THE AHS SING AIAN

BODY FOUND IN DRAIN

The body of Arthur Bryant, who had been missing from Alakerua since Tuesday, was found in a drain in the Alakerua flax swamp on Sunday morning. There were 4 or 5 feet of water in the drain. On Tuesday last Bryant left the Aliranui mill for the swamp, and was afterwards seen sleeping in the flax. Later in the day, a flood.came across the swamp, and the men were compelled to return to the mill. It was then that Bryant was missed. Search parties were organised, but their efforts were greatly hampered by the flood waters. Bryant’s body was found three miles from the place at which he was last seen, and a mile from the mill.
