NATIVE LAD SHOT.
FATALITY IN BAY OF PLENTY.
‘ Whakatane, October 26. About 2 p.m. yesterday a Maori lad, aged 16 years, named Kereone, was found shot close to Waimoana township. The lad went out after lunch, and some time afterwards a gun report was heard in the vicinity of the house. On investigation, the lad’s body was found on a pathway leading to the house, with the still smoking jgun alongside it. The accident occurred on a farm belonging to a native.
