FLOODS IN MANAWATU.
Another flood has occurred in the Manawatu River, in the vicinity of Shannon, causing a wide area of country to he inundated. The water rose liigh in the Makerua swamn, causing a cessation of operations at the flaxinills. The flood was at its highest at an early hour on Wednesday morning, when the road between Shannon and Foxton was covered to a depth of between three and four feet. Mr Rout, of the Foxton-Shannon mail service, found it necessary to convey mails and passengers via
Koputaroa. The ordinary service to Shannon, however, has not been interrupted.
The flood waters now cover portion of the. Levin-Foxton road, but are rapidly receding.
