THE LOCAL SEASIDE
A VISITOR’S OPINION
“You people in Foxton have a big asset in your seaside resort,” said a visitor to a “Herald” representative last week. “1 was astonished at the line river and sea beach, which appeared to me ideal and safe for bathing. But you need to popularise the resort by advertising its attractions in the other towns. Boosting will pay you. I was informed that all the houses available are hooked up for the Christmas holidays twelve months ahead. If you lmd double the number I believe they would all he occupied. Why don’t you get some enterprising man to erect a kiosk, where afternoon tea or other meals could be served at a reasonable price? If a building of this nature were erected with lightly furnished sleeping cubes attached, it would he a good paying proposition, arid attract numbers of people who could only spend a few days at the seaside. This is a feature of a number of seaside places, which is much appreciated.” Our visitor also suggested that a regular service to and from the seaside should be arranged.
