ROYAL PICTURES

Almost everything that makes a picture attractive has been injected into “Harriet and the Piper,” to be shown to-night. Popular story, logical plot development, highly dramatic moments, touches of the spectacular and bright Hashes of humour give the picture the effect of being well rounded out. The unconventional situations, of which there are many, have been delicately handled so as to give no offence. The analogy between the Pied Piper of Hamlin, whose magic* music lured the children away from home, and to the modern “frcclovers” lias been well drawn. Anita Stewart gives a performance that for real sympathy and vividness has seldom, if ever, been equalled in her career.

On Monday a special holiday programme will be offered. A real detective story with a Canadian North-western Mounted Policeman as the hero, portrayed by Wm. 8. Hart, “O’Malley of the Mounted,” is the Paramount star. Hart wrote the story, which was directed and adapted for the screen by Lambert Ilillyer. In the course of the story is a real western rodeo, a congress of wild riders and broncho busters, wherein some of the best feats of horsemanship imaginable will be shown. ■ Eva Novak is the leading woman.

Coming shortly: “Robbery Under Arms.”
