DORCAS SOCIETY AND C. A. CASES.
At Thursday’s meeting of the Palmerston District Hospital Board a letter was read from the Foxton Dorcas Society asking that extra relief be granted to a local case and to be supplied with a Ijst pf cases in which relief is giveii.
Mr. Hornblow said that the Churches had united to establish a general fund for the granting of relief to necessitous cases and the object was' to supplement the Board’s efforts. The chairman said no doubt the relief committee’s work was laudable, but the Board employed an experienced officer * whose reports were of a strictly confidential nature and could not lie supplied to any organisation.
The Relieving Officer ‘(Mr Aisher) detailed the case mentioned, and (he Board agreed that Ihe relief granted was ample.
The officer stated that he would be pleased®at any time to indicate cases to the organisation when assistance in the way of clothing etc. could be supplemented. It was decided to communicate with the society to this effect.
