FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above was held at the Board’s office yesterday. Present: Mr J. Linklater (chairman), and Messrs W. E. Barber, T. J. Clapham and Bock.

The Treasurer’s statement slioaved receipts since last meeting £230 13s Id, and overdraft at Bank of N.Z. £682 0s 2d, including accounts passed for payment, £BO9 14s 4d.

The folloAving correspondence was dealt with: —

From the Health Department, suggesting that attention should he centred upon (he removal of rubbish and measures for rodent instruction Lo taken'on any wharf or shed under the Board’s control. —Received.

From, the General Manager of Raihvays, pointing out that the quantity of West Coast coal obtained by the Department was so small that nothing can yet be done to arrange shipment through Foxton. From same, stating that the land beloAV Messrs Levin and Co.’s shed was not included in proclamation, and is therefore the property of the Board.

From the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, asking whether the Board will take the necessary steps (o have the road giving access to the foreshore at the Beach straightened. —Referred to the Manawatu County Engineer.

From the Minister of Internal Affairs, re trade statistics. From Foxton Chamber of Commerce, covering replies from shipOAvners re trading to Foxton. The dredge engineer reported the shoAved no alteration on the bar this month. The channel continues straight out. The east sounding on 30th September, gave lift. 3in, at high Avater, and the river is &ood. The dredge engineer reportedt he satisfactory working of the dredge during the month. It Avas decided to have the jetty put in proper order. It Avas decided, to obtain a report on sections leased and built upon, and also the class of buildings erected thereon. Also to leave the sale of the old launch in the hands of the Treasurer.

The meeting then terminated, and the members afterwarsd made an inspection of the dredge at Avork.
