IT DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY.
One of our good friends reports that lie has had some letters urging that he cut out his advertising, and supply the money he “saves” to lowering the pricej»f his goods. This advice would he all right if it worked; but cutting out advertising would not decrease the price of goods by a single penny. The point is this: Advertising sells more goods, therefore, each article carries a smaller share of “overhead” expenses; this saving in overhead is larger than the cost of the advertising, therefore, the storekeeper can # reduce the price of his goods, or lie can give better articles for the same money.
This is not theory, but the experience of every advertiser who is also a good business man. Look around you, friends, and you will see for yourselves that the goods which are consistently advertised invariably offer the largest value for the money.
