AUGUST WORKING
The amount of gas manufactured during the month of August was 587,0.00 ft., which, with the amount in the holder on the Ist of August, 17,000 ft., made a total of 004,000 ft. The amount of gas sold to consumers for lighting was 195,500 ft., for cooking and heating 201,300'ft., for power 88,100 ft.., 20,000 ft. was used in street lamps, 25,500 ft. at the works and manager's house, and there was 17,000 ft. in the holder on the Ist of September, leaving 50,000 ft., representing 8.0 per cent., unaccounted for. Fifty-three tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 11.075 cubic feet per ton. The earnings for the month totalled £327 8s 2d, and was made up as follows: —Gas sales, lighting ,tIT7 17s Id, heat and power £l3B 9s 4d, coke sales £4O 10s 2d, tar sales £2 3s 6d, fittings account £23 8s 7d, services £2, labour fittings £2 (is od, miscellaneous 7s Od, a total of £327 8s 2d. The expenditurefor the month totalled £373 17s lOd, and was made up as follows: —Coal used £132 19s Id, salaries, wages and labour £OB 3s od, fittings £24 4s Od, meter repairs £2 14s 3d, tools £2 3s lOd, new purifiers £8 2s 3d, pump £1 4s Od, retorts £6 10s Bd, house £23 7s Od, working expenses £2O Is 2d, printing and advertising £0 17s 6d, engine repairs and oil £ll 14s 2d, freight, wharfage and cartage £1 6s 9d, fireclay £4 17s Od, interest and sinking fund £59 11s 8d; total, £373 17s lOd.
