GERMAN SHIPPING DESIGNS.
The German Committee for Upper Silesia sent a congratulatory telegram to the Germania Wharf at Kiel in connection with the launching on,July 30th by the Hugo Stinnes Shipping Company of another tank steamer for oil transport, which lias been named the Ober Schlesien. The committee expressed the hope that the naming of the ship may announce to the outside world that the province means to maintain its German character, and furl her, that it may be a sign in the East and in the West of Germany’s supremacy which shall re-establish I lie country’s freedom, and lly the German flag on distant seas. The advertisement pages of the Stinnes newspapers, notably of the German Gazette, show that feverish efforts are being made to re-establish overseas mercantile services as quickly as possible. The maiden-voyage of the new Stinnes liner Ilindenburg, the sister ship to the Tirpitz, which has returned from South American ports, is described as a triumphal trip with special references to the inonarchial colours flown throughout the voyage.
