S.M. COURT RETURNS

The return of business done in the local Magistrate’s Court during the quarter ending September 30th is as follows: —There were 11 sittings of the Court, 3 presided o\ei bv the Magistrate, and eight by Justices of the Peace. Number of civil cases heard by the Magistrate 23, aggregate amount sued for £544 12s sd. Number of plaints entered 40, judgment summonses 7, warrants of committal one. Number of summonses and other processes served within one mile 55, over one mile 2G. Warrants executed within one mile two. Thirty-six persons (34 males and 2 females) were taken into custody, summoned or apprehended. Fees and fines totalled £96 Is Gd. Two old age pensions were granted.
