The ladies of the Presbyterian Church entertained Miss McEwen at an “all sorts” evening, in honour of her approaching wedding, in the schoolroom last night. The Rev. Mr Halliday presided, and at a suitable juncture referred to the guest’s iong connection with the Sabbath school and choir. The gifts were numerous and useful. Air Slade, on behalf'of Miss McEwen, thanked all for their kindness and expressions of good will. During the evening songs were contributed by Miss McEwen, Mr Stevenson, Air T. Henderson and Aliss AfcDonald, vocal duet by Misses E. and M. Patterson, and pianoforte solo by Aliss Patterson. Accompaniments were played by Mrs Cunningham and Miss Patterson. Guessing competitions were won by Aliss McEwen and Aliss B. Speirs. A tasty supper was handed round, and a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close with musical honours and Ihe singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
