SCHOOL AT THE SEASIDE.
! PROTEST BY LOCAL COMMITTEE.
At last night’s School Committee meeting, Mr Pearson asked whether the Board had taken any steps to establish a school at the seaside.
The Chairman said he had not received any information from the Board on the subject. In any. ease he questioned whether the Committee would be consulted in the matter.
Mr Pearson questioned, whether (he seaside was three miles from the
borough. Mr Broad, acting head lonelier, said if a school were established at | lie seaside il would affect I lie attendance at the local school. This would mean dial tbe staff would lose one assistant.
The Chairman said in his opinion Ihe Board would be ill-advised to establish a school there, as it would not be in the educational interest of the Beach children, nor could the expense of administration be justified in view of the cheaper means of transit to the local school. Ollier members endorsed this view, and il was unanimously resolved to write to the Board, expressing the Commit tee’s views on the subject.
