SKATING CARNIVAL
The Skating Carnival held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening last was a great success*, the floor being crowded with skaters, while numerous spectators witnessed the carnival from the stage seats. Some tine fancy dresses were- in evidence, some being very original. During the evening a number of competitions were got off, with the following results: —Boys’ race, Master Graham; girls’ race, Miss Kate Lacey; lies! lady skater. Miss Ethel Kiriona; best gent, skater, Mr A. Taylor; best couple, Mrs Currie and Mr A. Taylor; best fancy dress, Miss M. Andrews; special prize for fancy dress, donated by the judges, Messrs Trueman and Spiers, Miss I. Lacey. Miss Lacey’s dress was particularly original, being made entirely from “Three Diamonds” tobacco pouches. At the request of a number of skaters, it was decided to continue the season a little longer.
