SILVER WEDDING.

Members and friends of the Methodist Church Choir spent a most enjoyable evening on Monday last at the residence of Mr and Mrs Thornbur, of Union Street, the occasion being the celebration of the silver wedding of the host and hostess. Numerous games and competitions were indulged in, interspersed with musical and elocutionary items. Towards the close of the evening, the guests partook of a most excellent supper, a feature of which was a silver wedding cake, tastefully decorated. On behalf of the friends and members assembled, the Rev. L. Minifie, in a happy speech, referred to the sterling qualities of Mr and Mrs Thornbur, wishing them all happiness and success for the future. The speaker also referred to the appreciation the members of the choir felt in the association and interest of their hosts in the work of the Methodist Choir. Mr Thornbur, on behalf of Mrs Thornbur and himself, suitably replied to the good wishes expressed. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a conclusion by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Mr and Mrs Thornbur were married at Barnoldswick, England, on September 19th, 1890', by the Rev. Thorman, of the Gill Church.
