SHOOTING MYSTERY

STOREKEEPER’S UNKNOWN ASSAILANT.

Wairoa, Sept. 21

On receipt of information last evening that a storekeeper at Opoutama, George Sissons, had been shot, but not with fatal results, Sergeant Wade proceeded to the scene and found Sissons had been shot in the back and hand. There were marks of 88 pellets of No. 4 shot, showing that Sissons had come out and was closing the door when shot, and did not see his assailant. The police are reticent, and certain aspects of the case are being-investi-gated.
