THE PRICE OF BUTTER
A Wellington telegram states that I lie local retail price of butter of standard brands, first grade, has been reduced by Id per lb., and now i< 2s 4d per lb. Other brands, which have been selling at 2s 3d, have been reduced to 2s 2d retail. Similar reductions have been made in Auckland and the Wairarapa. In conversation with a local grocer this morning, we were informed that it is proposed to reduce the price of butter locally to 2s 5d per 111. cash, 2s ffil booked. Our representative was informed that the wholesale cost of butter in Foxton was 2s 2d per lb.
