SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the local State School Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), G. Coley, C. Pearson, Perreau, Jno. Ross, W. Nye, A, Stevenson. An apology for absence was received from Mr Wliibley. The Chairman introduced and extended a welcome to Air Broad, the relieving head master, who suitably replied. Correspondence of a formal nature was read and received from the Board. Air Pearson was thanked for the gift of a spray pump for window cleaning. A letter was read from the tenant of the old school residence, asking for celtain repairs.—A committee consisting of the Chairman and Alessrs Pearson, Coley and Nye was appointed to inspect the dwelling, with power to act. Tim acting head master reported that lie was getting into the “run of the ropes,” and the woik was proceeding satisfactorily. The children were fairly responsive, and well behaved. There was hard work ahead, and lie would do his best to make up any leeway. He reported upon several minor matters which required attention, which were referred to the visiting committee with power to act. The Chairman’s action in granting a holiday on the occasion«of the Alanawatu-SpringWok match was endorsed. Air Coley reported upon the work of top-dress-ing the lawn, which was proceeding satisfactorily. A number of accounts were passed for payment. Oil the motion of Mr Coley, it was decided that all accounts submitted to Iho Committee must in future give each iem of purchase in detail. Messrs Pearson and Perreau were appointed visitors for the month.
