THE STORAGE OF BENZINE.
Amendments of the regulations concerning the storage of benzine have been agreed to by the Government, in response to representations from the New Zealand Farmers’ Union as to the difficulty which full enforcement- of the regulations would entail consumers. It .has been agreed l that no license will lie required if benzine is stored in quantities not exceeding 250 gallons, kept, for private use only, and not for the purpose of sale, stored on any (arm or other premises - exceeding ten acres in area, or 58 gallons if stored ;m premises less than ten acres in area, if such goods arc kept in a thoroughly ventilated depot consi meted of stone, brick, or concrete situated not less than ten feel from other buildings, or in a thoroughly
ventilated wooden frame building situated not less than 40f’t. from any other buildings, and if all such dangerous goods are kept in substantial metal vessels which contain not more than five gallons, so securely closed that neither liquid nor vapour can escape therefrom, and due precautions are taken* to prevent accident by lire or explosion.
