FOXTON” S 'FLYING SQUADRON
, A meeting of all willing to assist Foxton’s effort in the establishment of a St. Helen's Hospital at Palmerston for the hospital district was held in the “Herald” Office last night. There were present: Mesdames Pearson, Heasman, Symons, Misses Ne'ylon (2), Diamond, Barber (2), Hawke, Robinson .(2), McCormack, Hgaseman, Sewell, Messrs Honiblow, Christie and Read. Apologies were received from , Mrs Green and Misses Walker and King. Mr Hornblow explained the object of the effort, i.e., to raise £IO,OOO. He had set down Foxton’s objective at £H)O.
The matter was then discussed enthusiastically, and it was decided to hold two shop days, one next Saturday, and one the Saturday following. to hold a big concert, and to sell badges and collect donations. The following committee was set up to arrange the first shop daV: — Mesdames Heasman, Pearson, Symons, Misses Hawke and Desmond.
The following -were appointed a committee for the second shop day: Misses Robinson (2), Barber (2), Neylon (2), and Hawke. Messrs Christie and Road offered to erect a temporary shop next to Messrs C. M. Ross Coy.’s premises, in Main Street.
Mr Hornblow agreed to arrange the concert.
All present agreed to sell badges and to see the effort through. It was then decided to wait on the Borough Council in a body, and enlist the sympathy and support of the Council in the effort.
The Foxton Flying Squadron has go| to work with enthusiasm, and any person not wearing a badge will be up against it. Gifts for Saturday's Shop Day may he left at Mr Hensman’s shop, in Main Sweet. Cakes, fruit, vegetables, in fact any thing tlml will sell, will be thankfully received ami quilted. Be cheerful, and help the Flying Squadron in this grand effort for humanity's sake.
