“HELP THE MOTHERS.”
We have said Foxton’s objective for the St. Helens Hospital was £loo*. Well, that stands, but if it reaches twice that amount so much the better. But time is going on, and our sister districts are forging ahead, and we are remaining stationery.- Mr Drew, the County Clerk-, J called on us yesterday, and here is| the gist- of his talk:** Well, bow is Foxton doing? Can we help you with any of our enthusiasts? Let’s see, Awahuri is holding a fancy dress ball and hockey matches, males v. females; Rongotea i-4 holding a dance and big jumble sale; our stock committee is gathering quite a small herd of stock for sale; our young women are selling badges at from Is to £l, and enthusiasm is keen.” Mr Drew said the Manawatu County and Foxton were combined in the district effort, and it only now remained for Foxton to get going. All young ladies willing to assist in raising Foxton’s quota are requested to meet in the “Herald” office on Monday evening next, at 7.30 o’clock. -j The object is such a deserving and humanitarian one that no one should refuse to assist.
