TOWN HALL PICTURES.
Many of the scenes in “West is West,” the latest Universal producrkm, starring Harry Carey, which is to appear at the Town Hall on Wednesday, were filmed a quarter of a mile below the surface of the earth. The picture is a mining story of a free lance who uses his brains as well as his horse; of how he settles a miners' strike by shirtsleeve diplomacy, wins a fortune for his friends ns well as himself, and makes a certain young lady realise she is not too good for him. For the first time in the history of mining, a mine explosion and cave-in was staged many feet below the surface for a scene in “West is West.” A double reel star comedy, “Over the Transonic,” featuring Joe Martin, t he monkey comedian, and a further episode of Eddie Polo’s Circus, arc (he chief supports, not forgetting lhe latest happenings via International News.
