FRICTION AT STATE MINE

Christchurch, Aug. 5,

Advices from Grcymoutli stale that an incident that occurred at the State mine a short lime ago resulted in four rope hoys being discharged. It is slated that they left their work and went outside the mine for several hours. The management dismissed them, and engaged others in their place. Friction lias now arisen over this development, and intimation has been plainly given that if serious trouble arises the mines will close down for an indefinite period.
