RANGER’S REPORT

At last night’s Council meeting the Borough Ranger reported that during the month he had impounded seven horses and ten cows, and had also “arrested” two horses and one cow, which were released to their owners; 2s driving fees were collected.

Cr. Coley asked whether people were allowed to tether horses on the roadside. He pointed out that it was a.very dangerous practice, and if not permissable it should at once be stopped. Cr. Martin said that as the ranger was also employed at the gas works he did not think he could do justice to his work. People knew when he was not available, and so took advantage of his absence to graze stock on the roads.

It was decided that the report he adopted, and that persons having stock tethered on he roads be prosecuted.
