RIFLE CLUB BALL

AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION

The Town Hall presented a very bright and animated scene on Tuesday evening, Avhen the Foxton Defence Rille Club held ils second annual ball. Owing to the very stormy weather, the attendance was not large, but the affair was both a social and financial success. The lieaA’y rain and Avind prevented many people from Shannon, Levin and neighbouring districts from attending. Two members of the Ilnutere Rifle Club were present. Messrs S. Head (president) and Perreau oflieiated as Af's.O. in a very capable manner. The decorations were carried out with lings, greenery, streamers, ole., Avhile three rifles, piled on the stage, symbolised .the chief purpose of the function. The whole arrangement produced a most pleasing effect. The supper-room was very tastefully decorated with coloured streamers. The music, by Messrs T. East, B. Walls and 11. Graham, gave every, satisfaction, and combined with a Avell-prepared floor, made the various dances most enjoyable. A very dainty and generous supper was provided, the entire arrangements being in the hands of a committee comprising Alesdames Head, Ileasman, Seabur.v and Procter. Airs Head and her committee deserA'c special praise for the time and energy spent in supplying such excellent fare. The President and Secretary (Air 11. Franklaud), assisted by several members, were responsible for the general arrangements, and they wish to thank all Avho helped or contributed in any way to make the ball a success.
