FIRE BRIGADE.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Foxton Fire Brigade was held in Pcrreau’s rooms last night. Mr Perreau occupied the chair.

The balance-sheet for the past year was read and adopted, subject to slight adjustment, and disclosed a balance to credit of upwards of £2O.

Mr Smith asked why there was no report on the past year’s work. .

The Chairman stated that no report had been drawn up, but that good work had been done during the year by the brigade at several conflagrations. The Brigade had attended some eight or nine tires in all, and the public were no’doubt indebted to them for their efforts in this respect. The balance-sheet disclosed a satisfactory position, and he was of the opinion that theyJiad a very promising year in front of them. ‘ '

ELECTION OF OFFICERS,

Tlie following o'tlicers were elected:—Captain, 11. Hamer: lieutenant, A. Stevenson; sub-lieutenant, \\. Neville; treasurer, M. E. Perreau; engineer, C. Pearson; secretary, 11. M. Carter. Messrs Frankland and Smith were eleeted as a committee, and Messrs-Perreau and Smith were appointed to sign cheques.

NEW MEMBERS. 9

The following new members were elected: —Messrs Jacobsen, K. Ilornblow, 11. Reid and J. K. Hornblow. EQUIPMENT. Mr Head moved that four barrels of soda and four jars of acid be obtained. —Carried. Decided that the Captain and Lieutenant confer re further equipment, and get the Secretary to write lo the Borough Council accordingly. Mr Ji. Rainer asked that Hit* overalls recently purchased he distributed. Mr Perreau pointed out that the overalls were waiting distribution, and are at Mr Parkins’ residence. BENEFIT ENTERTAINMENT. Mr H. Hamer said that Messrs Hamer and Son would like to give rt benefit entertainment in aid of the Fire Brigade funds, which was accepted with thanks. Mr Ilornblow consented to explain matters in connection with the formal ion of a Fire Board at next meeting.

It was decided to hold a meeting lit 7.30 on the third Tuesday of every month, and that notices bo ,-cnt to members two days before each meeting.
