METHODIST CHURCH
The Foxton and Levin Methodist ministers and choirs exchanged services on Sunday evening. The Rev. Mr Minifie accompanied his choir to Levin, and the Rev. MiFrost to Foxton. The local choir were a little behind time in arriving at their destination, owing to tyre trouble. The Levin party arrived well on time. The singing by the Levin choir, under the able conductorship of Mr J. Howard Andrew, was excellent, and the service of praise was thoroughly enjoyed by (he local congregation. Apart from the congregational hymns, the choir, at the close of the sermon, rendered several selections from the cantata “A Gospel Thanksgiving.’-’ A duet by Miss Kilsby and Mrs Sawtell, and a solo by Miss Walker, were much appreciated. Mr Andrew, the conductor, in a few remarks, expressed the choir’s pleasure in assisting with the service of praise at Foxton. He said members of the choir could not preach, but they could render a service to the Al--miglity in the singing. He urged the congregation to encourage the choir in every possible way. The Rev. Mr Frost expressed bis pleasure at the interchange of services, and hoped the result would he beneficial to congregational worship. He hoped that later in the season the Levin choir would be able to reproduce the cantata, selections from which were given that evening. He also paid a fine tribute to the Foxton choir, and said their singing was much appreciated by his congregation.
