IN our last issue we briefly referred to the visit of Mr C. B, Barrenger. Government Inspector under the Explosives and Dengerons Goods Amendment Act, 1020. The.
object of Mr Barrengers visit, was • to explain the provisions of the Act 1 and regulations to the local author- ! itv, and to inspect buildings and ! depots where benzine and other explosives are stored, in order that ! those interested may take the necessary steps to comply with the rei quirements of the Act, and obtain a ; license. Any one who stores more : than 8f gallons within a given area j in the borough without hist MnaI ining a license will be liable to a 1 heavy tine. The license fees vary ; from fl to. £5 per annum. The j Borough Council is- empowered to ! make by-laws under the Act and !to appoint a local inspector. It is probable that the Council will give the subject consideration at its next meeting. ,
