BOROUGH FOREMAN’S REPORT.
At Monday night’s Birough Council meeting the borough foreman reported as follows: — “During the month of May the road staff has been employed in grading footpaths and weeding water tables in Park Street, Thynne, Robinson and Johnston Streets and Avenue Road, carting oxide froip gasworks and spreading same on Wharf Street and Avenue Road, carting and spreading metal on Whyte, Thynne, Park and Putted Streets, cleaning drains Avenue Road (east of Spring Street), Baker and Putter Streets, general maintenance, patching up in various streets, cleaning water -’channels, Main and Clyde Street, etc. The metal froniTiakitahuna is coming to hand freely, and during t lie present month will be put on the roads. Wc have used up the brick rubble from the chimneys of old council chambers in making up bad corners in various streets, also filling in centre of foad at the northern end of Putter Street, afterwards covering same with metal. We have also taken the grass off Hillary Street, and graded up the road with metal from Main Street.”
Cr Whibley pointed out that the roads where the sewer drains had crossed them wer<? now in a very bad condition.
Cr. Hand suggested thn't the crossings be metalled and banked
ft .was decided that the Borough foreman's report be adopted, and that inquiries be made as to hire or purchase of a grader.
