HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.

The High Commissioner’s cable, dated 11th instant, reads: — Manila market quiet, tendency weaker. >J grade, March-May shipment, sold £3B, May-July shipment sold £37 10s, June-August shipment quoted sellers £37 10s; output since Ist January 323,000 bales, against 551,000 for the same period last year- The grading of recent arrival is more satisfactory, specially as regards evenness of colouring and texture, closely corresponding with prewar. Percentage of weak hemp decreasing. New Zealand market continues quiet. Reported that high points, June-Aug-ust shipment, sold this week £3B value, fair nominally about £35.
