ROYAL PICTURES.

Olive Thomas, the beautiful and clever Silznick star, is without question among those on the top of the ladder in screen fame —she is wonderfully versatile, she is gifted with “personality,” and she always has a good story to tell, therefore when a critical magazine states that “The Spite Bride,” to be screened to-night, is probably the best Olivo Thomas’ picture to date, it means that one of the most attractive productions possible has been made. The plot, though unusual, is not s t rained. Louise Winter has writ - ten a clever, novel and pleasing romance which has been transferred to the screen by a master hand, and the characters interpreted by a very capable east. The mounting of the picture is perfect, and the subtitles are clever. Extra: “The Silent Avenger.”

To-morrow’s change of programme will include “The Midnight Bride.” In addition to being a good, clean and interesting story full of life’s contrasts, the Vitagraph has made a good choice in selecting Gladys Leslie to portray the heroine in “The Midnight Bride.” Her work in ths role is of the best she has done, and it is .an arduous and exacting character that she lias in the role of the little country girl who was unexpectedly married at midnight, a widow within an hour, and having to light for her good name tooth and nail against unscrupulous politicians, until she found what she had sought in the lirst place—real love,
