Details from Niue Island show that martial law has been proclaimed, and all roads leading to Alofi, the scat of Government, and the port of entry, are guarded, and sentinels challenge all who enter. An - eslee Matu is described as an agitator, who is influencing a fairly large following. The returned soldiers have sided with the authorities, and thi;j is having a good effect.
