DOMINION FINANCES.
SIX MILLION SURPLUS
During the past financial year the revenue of the Dominion totalled £54,240,038, against £41,320,900 for the previous year, ordinary revenue showing an increase of upwards of eight millions, viz., £20,075,900 to £34,102,080, Customs shows an increase of 34 millions,, stamps and death duties over £400,000: Post and Telegraph £540,000; land tax £13,000; income tax 2'j millions railways, over a million. On the expenditure-side, permanent appropriations show an increase from £11,387,000 to £12,234,724. Annual appropriation- were: Post and Telegraph £l/941,494 to £2,588,350; working railways £4,305,005 to £0,211,001; Justice £571,401 to £725,071; Internal Affairs £330.350 to £032,000; Education £2.031.524 to £2,400,115. The Agricultural Department shows over half a million decrease, Other departments also show reduction?-. Details of ordinary revenue are as follows ;
The expenditure for the year amounted to .C 25,008,728, leaving a surplus of about six millions.
