SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

LITTLE GIRL SERIOUSLY

INJURED.

A little girl, about 1.2 year- of age, named lona Page, a niece of Mr and Mrs E. Moods, ot Motuiti, met with a serious accident last evening while riding home from school. With her cousin, Nellie M’oods, the couple were riding a pony “double-bank,” and were accompanied by other children ou horseback. When near Mr W. E. Barber’s residence the little girls fell off the pony on to the road. Nellie Woods received a nasty bump on the head, but ljer cousin’s injuries were more serious. The injured child, who had lost consciousness, was removed to Mr Barber’s house, and medical aid summoned, and the child subsequently removed to the Palmerston Hospital.

Upon enquiry at the Hospital this morning we were informed that the injuries to the head were severe, but there was no fracture. The full extent of the injuries will not be ascertained for a few days. There is a prospect, however, that the accident will not have a fatal result.
