FOOTBALL.
OPENING OF SEASON. The Horowhenua Rugby Union’s senior and junior fixtures were commenced on Saturday. In the senior competition there are six teams' competing:—Levin, Shannon, Foxton, Kuku, Tokoniaru, and Hui Mai. For the junior competitions twelve entries'were received, and it was decided to play this competition in two sections (North and South), and the section winners to play off at the end of the season to decide the championship. - The teams in the Northern section are: —Foxton, Otauni, Shannon, Koputaroa, Levin and Wcraroa; and the Southern division is comprised of Old Boys, Kuku, Otaki, Hui Mai, Waikanae, and Paraparaumu.
