-4 VISIT OF DEPARTMENTAL . OFFICERS. The Chief Telegraph Engineer, Wellington District Engineer, and District Engineer of Palmerston N., were in Foxton yesterday, and interviewed members of the local Chamber of Commerce in reference to a protest made by the local Chamber re isolating Foxton for urgent calls between 11 p.m. and i a.m., and switching Foxton connections for Palmerston and north through Levin after 6 p.m., thus causing delay. The officers explained the reason for using the Foxton line for long distance communica j lions after 6 p.m., which was necessary, but stated that the local office can he used for ux'gent calls between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The officers were thanked for the explanatnon, and the matter will be submitted to the Chamber of C ommerce at its meeting on Tuesday evening.
