COMMERCIAL.
The Foxton Auctioneering Coy. held a very successful sale at their mart, Avenue Road, on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance, including a number of district farmers, who no doubt recognise tho importance of the live stock department of the business, in which a start was made on Saturday, two lines of pigs being submitted. The firm is in a position to deal with all kinds of stock, and this .department promises to extend considerably. Prices realised on Saturday were as follows: —Pigs, weaners 9s, slips 15/0. Fowls sold from 2s Gd to 3s. 3d each. Dessert apples 7s to 9s per bushel ease, according to quality; potatoes 8s to 8s 6d per ewt.; onions, 13s per'ewt. Other vegetables sold well at fair prices, as also did garden tools and sundries. Entries are solicited for next Saturdays’ sale, and farmers and others with stock or goods to submit are requested to send particulars in by 10 o’clock on Thursday morning, so that same can be advertised.
LONDON TVOQL SALES/ Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from London, dated 15th April, 1921: — The wool sales have closed with a confident tone, owing to German demand for IG’s and 48’,s qualities. As compared with'the opening sales, the closing sales show good and medium wools rather dearer, tine and coarse wools unchanged.
