Under the new order of things, householders entitled to vote will have an opportunity of carefully scrutinising the qualifications of candidates in ample time to make a wise selection, instead of having to make up their minds amidst confusion. The credit for the amendment to the Act in this connection belongs to Foxton, whose representative at the Federated School Committees Conference brought down the remit, which was successfully piloted through, approved by the Minister and Parliament, and embodied ift the Act, Its operation will prevent cliques and parties rushing in tickets and creating confusion at the householders’ meetings. Six of the old Committee, namely, Messrs Coley, Ilorublow, P. Robinson, Perreau, Jno. Ross, and'A. Stevenson, offer themselves for recleetion, while two of the eondidates, viz., Messrs Tlios. Henderson and W. Xye, arc ex-committeemeu. The other nominees have displayed a keen interest in school affairs.. It is hoped that householders will carefully scrutinise the qualifications of the candidates and make a wise selection on Monday night.
