BOROUGH WORKS

The road foreman reported as follows at Monday night's Council meeting:—

“During the past month the road staff have been engaged a.- follows: Completing asphalt work in Avenue Road facing Town Hall, asphalting path at Public School, cleaning drains in Johnston, Russell and Spring Streets and Avenue Road, spreading and breaking metal in No. 0 Line and Moutoa Road, and general maintenance work. Coley Brothers have completed their contract for 100 yards of pit metal on No, G Line and Moutoa Road. To finish patching up to Nye Street boundary they carted some additional loads, 181 yards in all. This was dune with Ihe approval of the Mayor. I suggest we might obtain another 100 yards, less the 181, for putting on Purcell Street, and it would be advisable to blind all the pit metal with clay, \Ye need metal on portions of Avenue Road, east of Johnston Street, down to the cemetery, Johnston Street from Avenue Road to Union Street. Parts of Cook Street, Lady’s Mile, Fatter St reel, also need attention. We have still a considerable amount of drain cleaning work lo do, and this will be gone ori with during the ensuing month. 1 should like to call I lie attention of the Council to the spread of noxious weeds in the borough."
