FEBRUARY WORKING,

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of February was 458,000 ft., which, with the amount m holder on February Ist, 14,000 ft., made at total 0f.472,600 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 209,100 ft., for cooking and heating 105,300 ft., and for power 69,900 ft.; 11,000 ft. was used in the street lamps, 23,500 at works and manager’s house, and there was 10,000 ft. in the holder on March Ist, leaving 37,800 ft., representing 8 per cent, of the output, unaccounted for . Forty-five tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,019 ft. person. The earnings for the month totalled £317 3s 9d, made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £llß 13s Od (heat and power) £llO 9s 4d, coke sales £l3 17s 3d, tar sales £4l 12s 9d, weighing* £1 9s Od, fitting account £lB 12s Bd, labour services £7 10,s 3d, labour fittings £1 3s od. casks £1 11s Od, disinfectant 3s. The expenditure was as follows: Coal £lO5 7s 9d, salaries, wages and labour £144 14s 7d, pipes (services) £2l 7s 2d, fittings £27 17s 3d, meter repairs £1 2s 9d, tools £1 4s Od, purifyers £5, repairs £5 Is lOd, working expenses £1 5s Od, printing and advertising £2 19s Od, engine repairs and oil £4 5s Bd, freight, wharfage and cartage 10s 3d, miscellaneous £1 12s 7d, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Bd, total £382 7s Od. ' GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. “The amount of gas manufactured during the year ending March 31st was 6,497,400 c. ft., as compared with the previous 12 months, shows an increase of 695,200 c. ft. The amount of gas registered by the station meter during the month of March was 547,000 c. ft., which is an increase of 42,100 e. ft. The make per ton was 10,940 e. ft. The increase of 42,000 c. ft. at a nett cost of 9s 7d represents the sum of £2O 2s Od over the corresponding period of last year. During the month seven services have been cleared of water and sand. Six meter' were changed, and these effected a saving of 7,000 c. ft., representing the sum of £3 7s Id nett. The number of meters not registering last month total live.”
