MYSTERIOUS DEATH AT RIVERTON.

Invercargill, April 8. At the inquest concerning the death of James McFarlane, aged <6 years, who was found drowned in the Riverton estuary, evidence was given that on Monday he visited Invercargill and deposited about £7,000 worth of securities with the Public Trustee. He also left a will and gave the Public Trustee power of attorney to collect moneys due. He appeared quite rational, discussed his financial arrangements, and made certain requests. He was last seen the same night proceeding to his home in South Riverton. There were no suspicious circumstances, and a verdict of found drowned was returned. The deceased was a, bachelor without relatives in the Dominion.
