BOWLING.

Mr T. M. Wilford, M.P., 1 urn fywarded the local Bowling Club a handsome silver cup for competition and same is at present on view In Mr Healey's window. Mr Wilford spent portion of his Christmas -vacation in Foxton, and during his stay here spent several enjoyabl# afternoons on the bowling green, J and in forwarding the Cup to tlnf£ Club for competition, asked that it . be accepted with his compliments, and as a mark of appreciation of the pleasant times he had spent with the members of the Club on the local green. A meeting of the committee of the Club is to be held to draw up conditions of competition for the Cup.

DIXON CUP. A rink from the Terrace End Club, comprising Wallace, Reid, Rankin, and Carter (s), wrested the Dixon Cup from the Woodville Club on Saturday, it having been, up till then, successfully defended by Lyon, Bly, Nicholson and Wardvop (s), for some time. The game was a hard fought one. On the 17tb head Woodville led by 20 points to 16, but on the four remaining heads Terrace End scored 11 points—two on the 18th, four on the 19th, three on the 20th, and two on (he 21st — giving the victory by seven points.

AINSLIE SHIELD. Two rinks from the Manawatu Club—Hunter, Morgan, Fastier and Torbit (s), and Thornlev, Slipper, Inglis and McKenzie (s) — challenged the holders of the trophy—Grant. Wilton, Needham and Ramsay (s), and Stuart, Jackson, Dixon . and Trott (s). Ramsay defeated Torbit by 31 to 13, and Trott beat McKenzie by 30 —11. MANS ON AND BARR CUP. The Manson and Barr Cup passed into the hands ofJFerraee End Club on Saturday, when, a challenging rink—Barley, Ilankius, Wcarne and Baton (s) —defeated the holders— Bildcrbeek, Short, Livingstone and Jolly (s), of Palmerston North Club. The game was keenly contested, the final scores being 15 —14.
