CARNIVAL COMMITTEE

A further meeting of the Carnival Coronation Committee was held yesterday afternoon, when details were discussed in reference to the coronation ceremony to be held in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, ll was decided to hold a rehearsal of the ceremony on Monday, at 3 o’clock. Special committees were set up to arrange details. CITIZENS’ QUEEN. The children’s dance held last night was very successful, and tlie young folk had a real good time. A dainty supper and plenty of cold drinks were provided, and the music was supplied by Mrs Pearson. At the conclusion of the children's dance adults took the floor, the Committee wish to thank all those who assisted in any way to make the function a success.

The Progressive Euchre Party and Dance to be held in the Town Hall oil Tuesday next is the talk of the town. Be sure you get your tickets as early as possible, as by doing so you will greatly assist the Committee in making the necessary arrangements. Ladies’ tickets Is and a basket, gentlemen 2s' fid. Progressive euchre to commence at

7.45 sharp. The next meeting of the Committee will be held on Monday night, at 7.30 o'clock.

SPORTS QUEEN. The Sports shop, which has been in full swing all day, promises to net a handsome sum. A number of guessing competitions to be drawn to-night arc being well patronised, The Levin branch of the Sports Committee are making a big final bid for votes with the Sports Dance being held in Levin on Monday evening. A number of local rest'-** dents intend making the trip.

The weekly Sports dance will be continued in the Masonic Hall this evening, when the usual complete arrangements will be carried out, and a good time can confidently be expected.

FARMERS' QUEEN. A very successful dance was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday, 29th inst., when a large number of votes were secured for' the queen candidate. Several competitions were started. One was drawn on the night of the dance, a box of chocolates, the winner being Mr M. Mandl, with No. 54.

A Shop Day is being held to-day on improvised premises under Messrs Robertson and Co.’s verandah at corner of Main and Whyte Streets. A nice lot of produce is on sale, and various competitions, including prizes of a sheep and a fat; goose, are being conduct ed. A meeting will be held in the Town Hall supper-room on Monday evening, 4(h inst. Business, urgent. All members who hold sold art union and voting books, and dance tickets, and surprise packet envelopes, are requested to hand the hulls and proceeds to the secretary without delay, and not later than Wednesday, Glli inst., at 4.30 p.m., also rosettes and ribbons. Tickets in the heifer guessing competition may he had from members of the Commit tee.
