CARNIVAL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Carnival Committee was held on Tuesday afternoon, presided over by Mr Moorehouse, to discuss the coronation ceremony. It was decided to restrict the hiring of court dresses to the queen candidates, and others taking part who desired appropriate costumes to procure same at their own expense. A lengthy discussion took place in reference to the carrying out of the ceremony, and a special committee was set up to arrange details, It was decided to hold the ceremony in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, the day following-the Carnival. Prices of admission w-ere fixed at 2s dress circle and front seats, and Is back seats, children half-price. The organiser stated that he was arranging a programme for Carnival Night, in the Town Hall, when the winning queen would be announced and the art- unions drawn. It was decided to charge Is, children halfprice, for this entertainment. Other matters of a detailed character, were discussed, and the meeting adjourned.
