METHODIST CHURCH.
SALE OF WORK,
A salo of work, produce, etc., in connection with the Methodist Harvest Thanksgiving was opened iit the Masonic Hall by the Mayor (Mr John Chrystall) yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance, and the various stalls were well stocked, and the goods tastefully displayed. In his opening remarks the Mayor referred to the satisfactory financial condition of the church, and said the effort was to ensure that the Minister’s successor should make a fair start. He congratulated the ladies upon their work in providing such a tine collection of articles, and specially thanked all .donors of gifts. The following had charge of‘the various stalls: —Flowers and pot plants, Mrs Signal; sweets, Mesdames Kenncrley, Thornbur, 11. Osborne and Miss Scadden; produce, Mrs Bullard senr. and Miss Bullard, and Mr E. Westwood; Guild stall, Misses Signal and Henry; fancy work, Mesdames Harding and Berry: tea rooms, Mesdames L. Bullard, Ashmore, Misses Honore and Evans; bran tub. Miss Osborne. A number of interesting competitions were got oil' at intervals during the evening. Pianoforte solos were rendered by Misses Evans and Osborne, and a vocal item bv Mrs L. Bullard.
