CARNIVAL NOTES.
FIBRE QUEEN, The Fibre Queen Committee will run their usual dance in the Masonic Hall, and dancers can anticipate another good evening's at this popular gathering. CITIZENS’ QUEEN. The Citizens’ Queen Committee's children’s dance should prove a J great treat for the children, besides netting a good number of votes for the queen candidate. SPORTS QUEEN. Arranged at short notice, the dance held at Oroua Downs on Tuesday evening by the Sports Committee was a huge success. During, the evening a guessing competition was got off, and many tickets on the wristlet watch sold. The Sports heartily thank all their friends at. Oroua Downs who helped make the dance such a success. The sale of the watch tickets is exceeding expectations, and as only a limited number of tickets are to he sold, those wishing to secure same should take the first opportunity. A date has been fixed for the Sports’ moonlight marine excursion, and arrangements are practically complete.
NATIVE QUEEN. The Native Queen Shop Day on Saturday promises to he a huge success. The shop will he well stocked both with provisions and Maori curios, and basket work, in fact, there will he something for everybody to buy, besides competitions.
FARMERS’ QUEEN. A representative and largely attended meeting of the Farmers’ Queen Committee was held in the Town Hall supper-room on Tuesday last. It was decided that a Shop Day he held on Thursday, 25th last, and also a dance in the Town Halt on Tuesday, 291 h inst. Tickets for the dance will he out shortly, and patrons may lie assured of a real good time. Particulars of the Shop Day will appear in a later issue.
It was remarked at the meeting of the Farmers’ Queen Committee that it was noticeable that the Farmers’ Queen candidate was not gelling the support that was due to her from the Farming Community, and as this was attributed to the fact that a good many of the farmers had not been approached in the matter. The secretary was therefore instructed to approach these gentlemen in the matter of supporting the queen by way of letter.
