CRICKET.
A very pleasant match was played at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon, when Foxton had a very decided win from Whitaunui, the respective scores being: Foxton 143, Whitaunui 42. S. Reeves and K. Hirini both bowled well for Foxton, and shared even honours for. the day, with live wickets each. Foxton opened first, to the howling of Newth and T. Morgan, J. Higgins, P. Morgan and 11. McDonald also following with the leather. For Whitaunui, Newth was responsible for five wickets, T. Morgan two, P. Morgan 2, and Davey one.' W, G. Nyc, who hitherto has put up good scores, was howled by P. Morgan when his score stood at 5. L. J. Furrie, who was batting in his usual good style, reached the score of 33, when his bales were displaced by an excellent ball from Newth; C. Procter batted well, and compiled 30 before being caught, and Hirini reached 20 when he was given out l.b.w. —a position that he does not seem to exercise sufficient care to avoid. Tattersall junr., who is an excellent all-round man,.was unlucky enough to be caught in the field when his score stood at .13. .1. F. Reay knocked up 15 before being disposed of by Morgan. R. Burnett kept wicket for Foxton, and stood up competently to the pacey deliveries of Reeves and Hirini. Of Whitaunai’s scores, none ran into double figures, C.
