MOTOR SPEEDING.

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL TO TAKE ACTION.

At the meeting of the Manawatu County Council on Tuesday, the clerk (Mr A. K. Drew) directed the attention of the Council to the fact that the residents of the township of Sanson were annoyed by the general practice of speeding through the town, indulged in by the majority of motorists on racedays and holidays. He suggested that the Council should station a man on the roadside to take the numbers of all who exceeded the speed limit of eight miles per hour. If this were done the man would more than earn his salary. The Council had received about £do or £7O as a result of the recent prosecutions for speeding which the speaker had conducted. There would he good money in it for the Council, and, besides this, the Sanson residents would not be in danger of being run down. School children were never out of danger, as things were at present. It was decided to take action in the matter.
