VALEDICTORY.
Air J. T. Follis, who lias, for many years been the President of the Palmerston North Alaster Butchers’ Association, lias now retired from business, and has taken over the Post Office Hotel at Foxton. In order (o do honour to the man who lias,so long guarded the destinies of the Association, the , members, on Saturday evening, “entertained Mr Follis at a complimentary dinner at Palmerston North. The new President (Ah- S. H. Snell), in making Mr and Mrs Follis a presentation on behalf of the members, spoke of the splendid work Mr Follis had done for the Association in the past, of the esteem in which lie was held by members and of his genial personality. Other members paid their tribute of praise to the guest of the evening, and wished him all success in the future. Afr-Snell then presented Air Follis with a case of pipes, and Mrs Follis with a valuable ten-piece set of silver-mount-ed Doulton ware. The health of Miami Airs Follis was drunk in bumpers with musical honours. Mr Follis, in responding, spoke of the pleasure which lmd been his in being associaied with such a body of men as the Master Butchers of Palmerston North, and thanked them for their handsome gifts.
