ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
An unmarried man named James Sinclair collapsed in .the yard of the Longburn Hotel tit about (3 p.m. on Sunday, and expired when being picked up by Mr P. Meehan. Deceased was an employee of the Longburn freezing works, and had been suffering from dysentery and colic. An inquest on the body will he lield to-morrow. Wellington, Feb. 27, At Evans Bay this morning, a boy about 12 years of age, named Cheeseman, was knocked from a, boat through the boom striking him. Owing to the heavy sea it was impossible to rescue the lad, and he sank to the bottom in about 50 feet of water. Dragging operations are proceeding.
Dunedin. Feb. 28. , John McXaughlon, aged 42, who was arrested at Middleman'll on February 23rd on a charge of helpless drunkenness, and was sent, to the Dunedin hospital for treatment, died in the institution yesterday.
